Netflix Shines Spotlight On Black History.

This weekend I was able to view an excellent multi part documentary on Netflix called Hip Hop Evolution.” This documentary traces the origins of Hip Hop from the parks and projects of the South Bronx to the streets of South Central Los Angeles. Canadian Hip Hop artist Shadrach “Shad” Kabango does a great job of interviewing the icons of the rap game such as Grand Master Mellie Mel , Grand Master Flash , Ice T , Chuck D and others who express their heartfelt experiences and contributions to this now multi billion dollar industry, originally created by African-Americans. Growing up in New York in the 70’s I thought I knew all there was to know about rap, but quickly realized how under educated I was. Watching this documentary brings back memories of riding graffiti covered subways with my mom during that era from Harlem to the Lower East side of Manhattan. Check out “Hip Hop Evolution” you will  be thoroughly schooled.
